Em Elliott

Born in the valleys of West Virginia, raised by the river in Cincinnati, Em Elliott has been in Georgia since 2010 when they came to work for Georgia Equality through the Lutheran Volunteer Corp (LVC), a year long program that unites full-time Volunteers with non-profit organizations to work for peace with justice.

Em’s work with GE from 2010-2015 was focused on the Campaign for Safe Schools, working to enact anti-bullying policies through grassroots community organizing throughout the state of Georgia. Em also has experience in anti-bullying and school-to-prison-pipeline work, as well as their extensive work in Georgia schools supporting Gay-Straight Alliances and other LGBTQ-centered clubs. Em was a steering committee member of the National Safe Schools Roundtable from 2012-2014, and has received training from the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, the National Gay-Straight Alliance Network, Advancement Project, Dignity in Schools and many other GSA and safe school advocates. They were one of the co-founder of QYLTS Action Camp - Queer Youth Lead the South.

In 2015 they moved to Knoxville to pursue a new dream, designing and building their own tiny home. After two years of hard work their 170 square foot dream home was finished and dubbed the Dragon Wagon. They are now back in Atlanta, living happily with their dog Ruby and cat Sassafras and back on the board for GSSC.
